Our great sport welcomes people of all ages, from all walks of life, from all over our metro region. It gives a much needed opportunity for physical, mental and social health at a time when many other activities are unavailable. . The novel coronavirus (“COVID-19”) has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in the state of Oregon, prohibited the congregation of groups of people. With respect to safety, we require all members and guests to follow some specific extra precautions. After reviewing available scientific materials regarding the Covid-19 virus and its behavior in settings similar to our ice house, Evergreen Curling Club has instituted a temporary policy change for the 2020-2021 season, which is subject to change as new information regarding Covid-19 or health regulations is acquired.
ECC will only be open for limited use so long as it is allowed by the OHA for the tri-county area.
At all stages, face masks that meet CDC guidelines are required to be worn by all people aged 5 and up who enter the ECC facility. “Face covering” means a cloth, polypropylene, paper or other face covering that covers the nose and the mouth and that rests snugly above the nose, below the mouth, and on the sides of the face.
The following are not face coverings because they allow droplets to be released: a covering that incorporates a valve that is designed to facilitate easy exhalation, mesh masks, lace masks or other coverings with openings, holes, visible gaps in the design or material, or vents. It is recommended that those playing a game of curling bring extra masks in the event that their worn mask becomes damp and needs to be changed.
Guests are required to provide their own face masks and water bottles with resealable lid. The game of curling will be adapted to make social distancing possible. Guests will be free of all Covid-19 symptoms and not have tested positive for a minimum of 30 days prior to entering the ECC facility.
Curling ice will be made available for rental upon a mutually agreeable time by small, controlled groups when allowed by the OHA:
No drop in for any reason at any time.
Events that bring together a large number of members from the public may not be offered until the state lifts all Covid-19 related restrictions. This includes:
As with most situations, there is not currently much data specific to curling to inform this plan and regulations may be relaxed sooner if we see success (no or very low transmission) in other curling clubs that are opening earlier. Notification to any booked groups will be given if this is the case.
